A Life or Death Fight with Obesity and How He Found Help

Hi there. I felt that I had to write you today and ask for your support with a life or death fight with obesity that a friend of mine is struggling with.

Let me give you a quick background. A little while back, I received an email from a guy named James that I was quite touched by. This was no ordinary email. With my website's (TruthAboutAbs.com) growing presence online, I now receive hundreds of emails from people all over the world asking me for fitness advice. I try to respond to as many as I can, but I can only get to so many without being overwhelmed.

However, as I read through James email, I realized that this was no ordinary email... this was a very sincere letter asking for help... a letter from a man that was told by his doctors that he will not live more than a few more years if he does not lose a significant amount of weight. James' story gets even a little more complicated, which you can read about in his Fighting Obesity Blog in a minute.

After reading the email that James sent me, I knew immediately that I was going to do everything in my power to help James through his battle with obesity and his liver disease. I've decided it was my duty to be his health and fitness mentor/coach, and support him throughout this fight, whenever he needs my help.

More importantly, James has made the decision for himself to survive... to change his unhealthy ways for good, and dedicate himself to building a new life, rich with health and happiness for both him and his family. The good news is that James is already successfully dropping the pounds now that he has adopted his new healthy lifestyle.

James has decided to start a Fighting Obesity Blog that describes the life and death fight that he was confronted with, and how he's started to battle against it. He wants the blog to offer support for others who are also struggling with obesity.

James has posted his initial story at:
Beating Obesity Blog - Initial Story

After reading that, James has also posted his story of how we met and how he has become motivated to beat his disease at:
Beating Obesity Blog - Getting Help & the Motivation to Succeed

If you'd like to look at more of his blog postings on how he's going about beating obesity and his disease:

I didn't want to give out James' email to thousands of people, but if you would like to offer James some words of encouragement in his battle against obesity and his liver disease, feel free to email me, and I'll be sure to fwd the message to James.

Here's to wishing James the best of luck with his fitness transformation, and looking forward to seeing James 100 pounds lighter come this time next year, with a new life ahead of him!

If you know anyone that is struggling with obesity and need help or can help offer assitance to James, please forward this email to them so that this story may help inspire them.

Best wishes in health and happiness,

PS - My goal that I set in last week's newsletter of doing 200 BW squats in 5 minutes is almost shattered. Got 193 reps a couple days ago! A couple people have emailed me and are doing quite well. I'll post some results that everyone is getting next time.

Another Healthy Delicious Fat-Burning Muscle-Building Meal Idea

Hello again, it's Mike here from TruthAboutAbs.com & BusyManFitness.com

Today I wanted to share with you one of my favorite healthy Lean-Body meal plans that I absolutely love in the summer. I've been having this for lunch every day this week and I just never get tired of it... it's delicious! Obviously, you can enjoy this meal plan at any time of year, but it's very refreshing and for some reason just seems appropriate for summer.

Alright, here goes...

The quantity I've used here will make about 5-6 servings... hence, why I've been eating it all week :)
  • 1-lb of cooked diced chicken breast
  • 2 medium vidalia onions diced
  • 1 large bunch of cilantro finely chopped
  • 1 small jar (10 or 12 oz) of bean and corn salsa
  • about 3 ripe avocados
  • 1 large lime
  • about 10-12 round flat tostada shells (avoid any that are fried in soybean oil or hydrogenated oils of any kind... I found a brand of tostada shells at a health food store that are fried in much healthier coconut oil). If not, use soft corn tortillas instead.
Mix the diced chicken, diced onion, chopped cilantro, and jar of bean and corn salsa all together in a large bowl. Spoon out some of the mixture from the bowl onto each of the tostadas, and then top with some diced avocado (I use about 1/4 to 1/2 of an avocado for each tostada). Then slice off a couple of fresh lime wedges and squeeze the fresh lime juice on top of each tostada. Enjoy! The combination of lime, cilantro, vidalia onion, and avocado produces an explosion of flavors that I think you'll love.

It's a very refreshing, delicious, and healthy meal. And please don't ruin this healthy meal by washing it down with a gut-fattening soda or a chemically-laden diet soda either. Choose either water or a home brewed iced green, white, or red tea blend, and your body will thank you.

A quick word about the tostada shells... As I mentioned above, the only reason I even considered eating the tostada shells is that I found a variety at a local organic market that is fried in healthy coconut oil. Chances are you will not find this at any normal grocery store, as most brands will be fried in either hydrogenated oils (which are pure poision to the body), or the still damaging and highly refined soybean or cottonseed oils. Your best bet may just be to avoid the tostada shells and try soft corn tortillas or whole grain wraps instead.

If you're new to some of the information I teach here and don't yet understand why coconut oil is better for you than soybean and other highly processed polyunsaturated oils, then this article that I wrote some time back is a must read:
